AUGUSTA — U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe says a federal funding package provides states with the same level of home heating assistance as they received last year.

Snowe, a Republican, and Democratic Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island say a continuing resolution to fund the federal government for six months includes language that would provide states Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funding at last year’s level. Last year, Maine received $38.6 million.

The senators say in a statement that the resolution to be voted on by the House and Senate over the next several days that specifies the Administration shall allocate funding at last year’s levels.
