I normally do not read the biased journalism of Charles Krauthammer, but a Sept. 21 column (“Obama’s foreign policy to blame, not ‘Innocence of Muslims’ “) is so over the top that I must say something.

We are used to seeing and hearing radical bigotry containing blatant lies today, especially as we have a presidential election almost on us.

I have spent much of the last 50 years traveling the globe for my business and pleasure. Out of some 85 countries, I count 20 or so that have predominant Muslim populations, including Iran, Syria, Egypt and Indonesia, and I concluded many years ago that among all people of all creeds, color and language, the vast majority are good, with the same values of family and friendship.

Krauthammer makes one of the most false, misleading and inflammatory statements I have ever read: “There are still a billion Osamas.” This figure is so out of touch with reality it is beyond belief.

Fact: There are approximately 1.5 billion Muslims in our world. Indonesia has the largest population of Muslims at approximately 300 million, of which I would say less than 5 percent might be radical.

Globally, I would question whether even 10 percent are radical — even then, most would not be radical enough to be classed alongside Osama bin Laden. Krauthammer tells us two-thirds of Muslims are highly radical. For readers not familiar with the Islamic world, I hope this correction can lead to more fact-checking by biased journalists, who should not paint two-thirds of the Muslim world as mad fanatics.

In closing, it’s my opinion that President Obama has conducted a fine foreign policy treading the fine line needed today to avert major wars and all the terrible consequences thereof. Oh, for objective journalism!
