YORK — Two registered sex offenders from New Hampshire were arrested after allegedly being found in the presence of a minor.

Corey D. Savage, 28, of Durham N.H., and Robert Kean, 31, of Union, N.H., were arrested at 12:05 a.m. on Oct. 5, after a York police officer became suspicious of a pickup truck parked behind a Route 1 convenience store, according to a news release issued Sunday.

Patrolman Scott Slawson pulled over the truck as it headed south on Route 1, because it had a defective taillight. The truck was occupied by two men and a girl.

A records check revealed both men were listed as sex offenders in New Hampshire and restricted from being with minors, police said.

The girl, who is 16 and also from New Hampshire, was released to her parents.

Both men were charged with violating conditions of being a sex offender.

Savage was also charged with possession of a scheduled drug  and possession of marijuana.
Kean was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sgt. Thomas Baran said the news release wasn’t issued until Sunday because the case had been under investigation.

Both men will appear in York District Court to answer the drug-related charges, Baran said, because they allegedly occurred in Maine.

Baran said both men are jailed in New Hampshire because their probations were revoked.
