BANGOR — Top-ranked Washington Academy survived a scare from third-ranked Calais to win the Class B state volleyball championship Saturday evening at Husson College.

The Raiders dominated the first two sets, then stumbled to a third set loss before regrouping late to seal the championship.

In winning its second state championship in three years, Washington Academy beat Calais 25-11, 25-18, 19-25, 25-20.

The Raiders also beat the Blue Devils in the 2010 state championship.

Junior Kassidy Seeley served out the final three points to give Washington Academy the title. It was the first time she had served all season.

“This is just crazy,” she said. “This is we’ve been working for all year and it’s finally here.”
