PORTLAND – Police are investigating a head-on collision that left 10 people injured Sunday, including two critically.
Police said the crash took place around 11:10 a.m. on Marginal Way, near Trader Joe’s. Part of the road, between Preble and Chestnut streets, had to be closed following the crash.

A 2002 Ford Explorer operated by Sebastian Bukuru, 44, of Westbrook crossed the center line and hit a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on, police said.
The six occupants of the Explorer were taken to Maine Medical Center; two were listed in critical condition. Bukuru was treated and released from the hospital, according to a spokeswoman.
All four occupants of the Jeep Grand Cherokee were in serious condition, three at Maine Medical Center, one at Mercy Hospital.
The names of the victims had not been released.
Both vehicles had Maine license plates. Contents of the cars, including a child’s seat, were scattered on the road.
