MEXICO — Two Maine women have been selected to participate in the Special Olympics World Winter Games in South Korea.

Thirty-one-year-old Tanya Scott, of Mexico, and 26-year-old Kala Emery, of Lewiston are taking part in the games running from Jan. 29 to Feb. 5.

The Sun Journal reported that Scott will compete in snowshoeing, and Emery will compete in cross-county skiing. Their names were chosen by Special Olympics Maine officials

They will join 3,300 athletes and coaches representing 112 countries in South Korea.
