AUGUSTA — Gov. Paul LePage is saluting the caravan that carries thousands of wreaths from Maine to be placed on graves at Arlington National Cemetery.

In his weekly radio address with first lady Ann LePage, the governor says the caravan of volunteers has made its way from Washington County to Washington, D.C. each year for 20 years.

It’s led by Morrill and Karen Worcester who own Worcester Wreath in Harrington.

It’s become an annual pilgrimage for dozens of Maine people, and Ann LePage made the trip last year.

In the Democratic response, Senate President Justin Alfond of Portland calls this a new day for Maine politics as the legislative session starts.

Alfond says he wants to disappoint those who expect a showdown between the Republican governor and Democratic Legislature.
