BRISTOL — The State Fire Marshall’s Office has identified the woman who died Sunday afternoon in a fire on her property – the second fire to have taken place at her New Harbor home in the past 18 months.

Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said 69-year-old Lynn Ring died in the fire.

Her husband, 70-year-old John Ring, was treated at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta for burns to his hands.

Investigators said the fire started in the couple’s garage at 16 Oceanside Lane. McCausland said that is where they found the victim’s body. The couple’s Mercedes Benz convertible was destroyed in the fire.

Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to the couple’s new home, which was rebuilt after a March 2011 fire destroyed the residence. The cause of the 2011 fire was never determined.

McCausland said fire investigators have additional work and interviews to complete before they can determine how Sunday’s fire started. He said the state police major crimes unit is assisting with the investigation.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Ring’s body but says it will need more time to determine her cause of death.
