The Falmouth High sailing team finished second at the Atlantic Coast High School Fleet Racing Championship Nov. 10-11 in Christchurch, Va. The event featured teams from Maine to Florida as well as the Bahamas. Skipper Charlie Lalumiere and crew Haley McMahon placed first in the A division, while skipper Riley Engelberger and crew Kayla Adelman and Myles Everett were sixth in the B division.

 

A team of Maine runners representing the Dirigo Running Club placed seventh in the 40-and-over division Saturday at the USA Track and Field national club cross country championships in Lexington, Ky. Andy Spaulding of Freeport, Pete Bottomley of Cape Elizabeth, Scott Gorneau of South Portland, and Jorma Kurry and Al Bugbee Jr. of Falmouth posted an average time of 36 minutes, 46 seconds on the 10-kilometer course.

The Dirigo team also finished second in the masters division at the USATF New England championships Nov. 18 in Westfield, Mass., with an average time of 27:47 for 8 kilometers. Dirigo’s lineup for that race included Keelyn Wu of Freeport and Jeff Walker of Falmouth.
