GORHAM — Emmanuel Ismail hit a contested fadeaway from the corner at the buzzer Tuesday night, giving Cheverus a 53-51 victory against Gorham in an SMAA schoolboy basketball game.

Gorham (0-2), down by nine entering the fourth quarter, tied it on Brian Darling’s flip-in with 10 seconds to play. Gorham then forced the ball out of bounds under the basket and Cheverus (2-0) inbounded to Ismail in the corner for the winning shot.

Noah Stebbins finished with 15 points and Ismail 11 for the Stags. Elliott Spiers scored 13, and Nick Greatorex and Alex Owens added 10 each for Gorham.

 

WINDHAM 71, NOBLE 60: Kevin Weisser scored 19 points to help the Eagles (1-1) off Noble (0-1) at Windham.

Windham outscored the Knights 27-15 at the free-throw line.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 64, SACOPEE VALLEY 40: Will Shafer scored 21 points to lead the Patriots (1-1) past the Hawks (0-2) at Gray.

Andreas Kariotis added 12 points and Justin McKenna had 10 for Gray-New Gloucester, which took a 22-12 halftime lead, then pulled away with a 25-15 third-quarter run. Shafer put up nine points in the third.

 

WELLS 68, POLAND 59: Jake Moody scored nine of his 25 points in the third quarter for Wells (1-1), which started the period with a 14-2 run, opening a 47-35 lead against the Knights (0-2) at Poland.

Chris Carney and Dylan Stevens each chipped in 14 for the Warriors.

YARMOUTH 67, LAKE REGION 52: David Murphy scored 18 points to help Yarmouth (2-0) overcome Lake Region (1-1) at Naples.

After the Clippers opened with a 20-6 run, Lake Region rallied within 25-17, but Yarmouth ended the half with seven unanswered points.

 

GARDINER 62, LINCOLN ACADEMY 54: Tyler Jamison scored 26 points, including seven of eight from the foul line in the fourth quarter, as Gardiner (2-0) beat the Eagles (0-2) at Newcastle.

MORSE 51, MARANACOOK 43: Matt Munster scored 13 points to lead Morse (1-1), which used a 15-7 run in the final period to break open a tie game and beat Maranacook (0-2) at Bath.

 

PORTLAND 68, SANFORD 48: Jayvon Pitts-Young scored 23 points for Portland (2-0), which used a 27-14 second-quarter run to take a 39-27 halftime lead against the Spartans (0-2) at Sanford.

Nate Smart added 16 points and Justin Zukowski had 13, including eight in the second quarter.

 

MEDOMAK VALLEY 63, CAMDEN HILLS 60: Ryan Ripley shot 11 of 11 from from the floor and scored 23 points as Medomak Valley (2-0) beat Camden Hills (1-1) at Waldoboro.

WESTBROOK 63, SCARBOROUGH 59: David Breunig scored 16 points in a balanced offense for the Blue Blazes (2-0), who rallied past Scarborough (1-1) at Westbrook.

Westbrook trailed 31-23 at the half, then caught the Red Storm midway through the final period and held on.

 

FALMOUTH 83, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 33: Justin Rogers scored 10 of his 17 points and Grant Burfeind added all of his eight points in the first half as the Yachtsmen (2-0) opened a 40-12 lead against Fryeburg Academy (0-2) at Falmouth.

Thomas Coyne and Matthew Tseng added 13 points each for Falmouth.

MT. ARARAT 53, OXFORD HILLS 45: Shyheim Ulrickson scored 10 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter as the Eagles (1-1) finished on a 16-7 run to beat the Vikings (1-1) at Topsham.

 

THORNTON ACADEMY 72, KENNEBUNK 36: Quinn Richardson-Newton scored 19 points to lead the Trojans (1-1) over Kennebunk (0-2) at Saco.

Jeffrey Gelinas scored 15 for Thornton. Austin Sandler had 17 for Kennebunk.

CAPE ELIZABETH 66, FREEPORT 34: Chris Robicheaw scored 17 points and Henry Babcock had 13 as the Capers (1-1) beat Freeport (1-1) at Cape Elizabeth.

 

HYDE 72, ISLESBORO 25: Ryan Cassidy scored 15 points to pace Hyde (3-0) over Islesboro (2-1) at Bath.

 

DEERING 51, MARSHWOOD 39: Labson Abwoch scored 29 points to lead the Rams (2-0) past the Hawks (0-2) at South Berwick.

Abwoch shot seven of eight from the line in the fourth quarter as Deering used an 18-9 run to pull away.
