Film, TV and stage actress Glenn Close – who has a home on Prouts Neck in Scarborough – was among the Golden Globes nominees announced Thursday morning.

Close was nominated in the categor of best actress in a television drama, for her role as a ruthless lawyer in the legal thriller “Damages.” Close has won two Emmy Awards and one Golden Globe for her role on the show, which began in 2007.

Close’s competition for the Golden Globe this year will include: Connie Britton for “Nashville”; Claire Danes for “Homeland”; Michelle Dockery for “Downton Abbey”; and Julianna Margulies for “The Good Wife.”

Close has called her home on Prouts Neck overlooking the ocean a “retreat, a place to gird your loins.” She came to Maine after meeting her husband, David Shaw, founder of Idexx Laboratories in Westbrook, who owned the home before they were married. The two were wed at the house in 2006.

The Golden Globes will be given out on Jan. 13, live on NBC.
