Fire investigators believe the bodies of two men found in a burned out house in Orono are Cris Davis, 49, of Milford and his brother, Randy Davis, 47, owner of the house.

The bodies will be examined by the State Medical Examiner’s office Monday.

Investigators said the two brothers and a friend were out drinking Saturday night and were driven home in a taxi. The friend then continued by taxi to his Bangor home.

Investigators had been concerned the friend had also perished because his vehicle was in the driveway.

The fire was discovered at 3 a.m. Sunday at a Hillside Road home by an Orono police officer on patrol.

Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, said the fire destroyed the one-and-a-half story structure. The fire  was discovered by an Orono police officer on patrol.

Maine Fire Marshal investigators are looking closely at the wood stove as a possible cause. There were no working smoke detectors in the house.

One of the bodies was found on the second floor and the other in the first-floor living room.

This was the second fatal fire in greater Bangor in the past two months where smoke detectors were a factor, said McCausland.
