YARMOUTH — An unarmed man robbed the Rite Aid pharmacy in Yarmouth after 10 a.m. Monday, police and a witness said.
Lum Achu, 27, a pharmacy intern working at the Route 1 store, said a man approached her with an open bag and demanded Oxycodone. No weapon was shown, Achu said.
“We’re still shaken,” said Achu. “We just did what we were supposed to do, and he walked out.”
Maine State Police cruisers stopped on Route 295 between mile markers 14 and 15 in an attempt to search for the perpetrator, according to state police.
Yarmouth Lieutenant Dean Perry said the suspect was described as about 5-foot 8-inches to 5-foot 10-inches tall, wore a dark hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses, and gloves. Police believe he fled south on 295, but were not able to locate a suspect.
The robbery is the second crime committed against a pharmacy in Yarmouth in two weeks. Last week someone burglarized the pharmacy at the Hannaford on Route 1 between Dec. 18 and Dec. 19.
Police have yet to say what was stolen in that incident.
