A citywide parking ban will go into effect in Portland at 10 p.m. Sunday and end at 6 a.m. Monday so that public work crews can clear and remove snow from the Saturday night storm.

Vehicles left on the street will be towed at the owner’s expense.

The towing fee is $70, the parking violation is $30  and the impoundment fee is $35 and all outstanding parking tickets must be paid before the towed vehicle is released. Owners of unclaimed vehicles will be charged a $25 daily storage fee.

Vehicles will be towed to the city’s impoundment lot at the Ocean Gateway International Marine Terminal at 40 Commercial St., which can be reached by telephone at 774-3025.

Unclaimed vehicles will be towed to private tow lots at the end of the day following the parking ban.

Free parking lots have been set up around the city starting at 5 p.m. Sunday through 7 a.m. Monday.

A complete list is available at the city’s web site at www.portlandmaine.gov/parking/offstreet.asp
