BRUNSWICK – Cameron McLain scored two goals and Jason Blier stopped 24 shots Wednesday to lead Cheverus to a 4-1 victory against Brunswick in a schoolboy hockey game at Watson Arena.

Conor Ryle added a goal and an assist, and junior defenseman Alex Grant-Roy notched his first high school goal for Cheverus (7-1), which led 4-0 before Ryan Maciejewski broke the shutout with 3:46 remaining.

Blake Alexander made 28 saves for the Dragons (4-4).

CAMDEN HILLS 7, OLD TOWN 0: Grayson Szumilas and James Annis scored two goals apiece to lead the Windjammers (7-0) over the Coyotes (0-7) at Rockport.

GIRLS’ HOCKEY

ST. DOMINIC 2, CAPE ELIZABETH-WAYNFLETE 1: Kayla McClellan scored twice in the second period and Taylor Fillebrown made 16 saves as St. Dominic (3-8) held off Cape Elizabeth-Waynflete (3-4-3) at Portland.

Allison Mills scored with 6:48 left and Lily Jordan made 21 saves for Cape Elizabeth-Waynflete.

FALMOUTH 7, PORTLAND-DEERING 1: Jayde Bazinet and Sarah Hutcheon each had two goals and an assist to lead the Yachtsmen (8-5) past the Bulldogs (2-8-1) at Falmouth.

Meg Pierce added a goal and an assist for Falmouth. Martina St. Angelo and Gabby St. Angelo also scored.

SCARBOROUGH 2, LEAVITT-EDWARD LITTLE 1: Rachael Wallace scored 7:23 into overtime from Sarah Martens and Alyssa Hulst to lift the Red Storm (10-1-1) over Leavitt-Edward Little (9-3) at Auburn.

Scarborough opened the scoring after 12:13 on a goal by Hulst from Samantha Nablo. Leavitt-Edward Little tied it just over two minutes later.

GREELY 3, LEWISTON 1: Paige Tuller scored the go-ahead goal with 6:16 remaining and Danita Storey added an empty-netter with 1:04 left to lift Greely (9-2-1) over the Blue Devils (9-3) at Lewiston.

Meg Finlay of Greely and Faith Ide of Lewiston scored first-period goals.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

YORK 63, LAKE REGION 24: Zachary Leal scored 14 of his 18 points in the first half as the Wildcats (8-1) opened a 40-9 lead against the Lakers (3-6) at Naples.

Aaron Todd added 10 points for York.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 68, PINE TREE ACADEMY 21: Michael McIntosh scored 12 points to lead a balanced offense for the Panthers (4-5), who had all 13 players score against the Breakers (4-6) at Yarmouth.

McIntosh also had five steals and Burke Paxton added 10 points for the Panthers, who took a 20-6 first-quarter lead.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 43, PINE TREE ACADEMY 31: Mallory Ianno scored eight of her 21 points in the third quarter as the Panthers (2-5) used a 12-5 run to open a 34-24 lead against the Breakers (0-9) at Yarmouth.

Rebecca McGuire scored 13 points and Allison Verrill had 11 for Pine Tree.

KENTS HILL 50, SACOPEE VALLEY 44: Sara Grenier scored 25 points as the Huskies (2-2) beat Sacopee Valley (2-5) at Kents Hill.

FOOTBALL

THE FINALISTS for the Frank Gaziano awards are offensive linemen Bobby Begin, Thornton Academy; Jack Lucy, Orono; and Andy Martel, Bonny Eagle. The defensive linemen are Greg Duff, Bangor; Zach Kendall, Mt. Blue; and Kurt Massey, John Bapst.

The winners will receive a $5,000 scholarship. The runners-up will receive $1,000 scholarships.

John Huard, a former University of Maine and Denver Broncos linebacker, will speak at a banquet at 9 a.m. Jan. 27 at the Augusta Civic Center.
