Youth Field Day

all day in Phippsburg

Snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, dogsled rides, winter tracking and more will be taught by the Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association at the club’s winter youth field day. Equipment will be available for snowshoeing and skiing, or kids may bring their own. The Sportsmen’s Association’s facility is on Route 209. Activities run from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. No charge. Soft Hackle Flies

7 p.m. in Westbrook

Maine veteran fly fisherman, fly tyer and bamboo fly rod maker Joel Anderson will present his thoughts and experiences on fishing soft-hackled wet flies for trout and salmon at Sebago Trout Unlimited’s chapter meeting. The meeting will be at the American Legion Post 62 on 17 Dunn Street in Westbrook. Email heinz@maine.rr.com

Full Moon Hike

Jan. 24 in Jefferson

The Full Moon Hike at Hidden Valley Nature Center will include an owl prowl, led by Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association naturalist Lynne Flaccus. Coyote tracking, winter tree and twig identification and winter camping skills are also on the schedule. HVNC maintains a large collection of snowshoes that are available for rent.
