WHALE NOTES: After the NHL lockout ended, the parent New York Rangers brought up just two players – forward Chris Kreider and defenseman Matt Gilroy – to their six-day training camp. Right wing Chad Kolarik, who has scored a team-high 15 goals with 14 assists, remains. Veteran forward Brandon Segal, who played 54 games for the Pirates during the 2007-08 season, has two goals against his old team in three games this season.

PIRATES NOTES: The Pirates, who are 3-0 against Whale this season, have won 13 of 15 games. Following the lockout, the parent Phoenix Coyotes called up five of the Pirates’ top eight scorers. Veteran forwards Rob Klinkhammer, Chris Conner and Evan Brophey have points in three straight games. Forward Jordan Szwarz, a second-year pro, scored three goals in two weekend games.
