PORTLAND – Austin Moore scored on a power play with 2:12 left in overtime Thursday to give Gardiner a 2-1 victory against Cape Elizabeth in a schoolboy hockey game at the Portland Ice Arena.

Alex Nadeau and Hunter Belanger assisted on the winner for the Tigers (4-7-1).

Gardiner opened the scoring 11:41 into the first period on a goal by Seth Wing from Josh Moore.

The Capers (5-8-1) tied it 48 seconds later when Brandon Negele scored from Charlie Laprade and Eli Breed.

SOUTH PORTLAND 6, WINDHAM-SACOPEE VALLEY 1: Andrew Whipple recorded a hat trick, and Kyle Halvorsen added one goal and three assists for the Red Riots (1-9), who broke the game open with three second-period goals to beat Windham-Sacopee Valley (2-10) at Portland.

Phil Densmore finished with three assists for South Portland, and Christian Guignard and Alec Neal also scored for South Portlamd.

Travis Grant of Windham-Sacopee Valley cut the deficit to 3-1 four minutes into the second period.

GREELY 11, LEAVITT 2: Ted Hart scored three goals, Kyle Megathlin had a goal and five assists, and the Rangers (8-4) handled the Hornets (3-8-1) at Falmouth.

Nine Greely players had a goal or an assist. John Wright had a goal and three assists, Aiden Black added two goals and assist, Matt Ames had a goal and two assists, and Reid Howland finished with three assists.

Joe Saffian, and freshmen Colby Williams and Nathan Gervais also scored with Gervais notching his first as a varsity player.

GIRLS’ HOCKEY

SCARBOROUGH 3, CAPE ELIZABETH-WAYNFLETE 0: Alyssa Hulst scored two goals and assisted on a third as the Red Storm (15-1-1) scored three times during a five-minute span in the third period to down Cape Elizabeth-Waynflete (4-10-3) at Portland.

YORK 5, CHEVERUS 2: Olivia Leroux scored twice, and Rachel Yorke added one goal and two assists to lead the Wildcats (13-3-1) over the Stags (5-11-1) at Portland.

Addison Fredette and Victoria Stocks also scored, and Olivia Drew made 29 saves for York.

Katie Roy scored both goals for Cheverus.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

GARDINER 60, LINCOLN ACADEMY 47: Allyson Day scored 18 points and the Tigers (11-4) used a 16-5 run in the third quarter to beat the Eagles (6-9) at Newcastle.

CAMDEN HILLS 57, MEDOMAK VALLEY 39: Jordan Knowlton scored a game-high 21 points for the Windjammers (10-5), who opened with a 16-5 run and held off the Panthers (4-11) at Waldoboro.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

MEDOMAK VALLEY 95, CAMDEN HILLS 91: John Murray scored 34 points and Ryan Ripley added 28,five in the fourth overtime, as the Panthers (13-2) beat the Windjammers (10-5) at Rockport.

The score was 58-58 at the end of regulation. Murray put in a rebound to end the first overtime, Chandler Crans of Camden Hills made a 3-pointer at the buzzer of the second and Nick DePatsy of Medomak also nailed a 3 to force the final OT.
