GORHAM — The Gorham Arts Alliance has named a resident of the town as its newest artist-in-residence.

Rachel Flynn will bring poetry programs to Baxter Memorial Library and Gorham schools through the end of the school year, said Gorham Arts Alliance President Amy Valentine.

Flynn has published three books of poetry, recently taught at Northwestern University and is an editor at the Beloit Poetry Journal in Farmington, according to a press release from the alliance.

Flynn is the second artist-in-residence for the Gorham Arts Alliance, which was formed in 2011.

Previously, Rebecca Goodale of Portland worked with Gorham third-graders on a book-making project funded by a $1,000 grant from the Maine Arts Commission that was matched by the arts alliance, Valentine said.

She said Flynn, who lives in North Gorham with her husband and two children, will not be paid.
