BIDDEFORD – Bryce Fraser had a hat trick, and Ryan Keefe added two goals and an assist Wednesday night to lead Kennebunk to an 8-1 victory against South Portland in a schoolboy hockey game at the University of New England.

Brandon Merchant chipped in with one goal and two assists, and Ben Bath and Joseph Mooney each had two assists for Kennebunk (5-8).

Kyle Halvorsen scored for the Red Riots (2-10) in the final second of the first period to cut the deficit to 3-1.

MESSALONSKEE 5, BREWER 1: Jared Cunningham scored two goals and his older brother, Chase, added a goal and two assists to lead the Eagles (12-2), who won at Brewer and swept the regular-season series from the Witches (10-4).

Kalib Bernatchez and Dylan Burton also scored, and Ben Weeks had 27 saves for Messalonskee.

Andrew Collins scored for Brewer, which played without its captains, Spencer Valley (flu) and Brody Valley (illness).

“We came out strong in the first period,” said Chase Cunningham. “We could have played a lot better but we got the job done.”

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

WAYNFLETE 64, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 23: Martha Veroneau made four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 18 points for the Flyers (14-3), who took a 14-2 first-quarter lead and cruised past the Lions (11-5) at Portland.

Rhiannan Jackson added nine points and 10 rebounds, and Leigh Fernandez collected 10 assists for Waynflete. Veroneau and Fernandez also had five steals apiece.

Clarissa Jones led the Lions with 14 points.

SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 35, HEBRON ACADEMY 33: Kylene DeSmith scored 18 points for the Guardians (3-15), who built an early fourth-quarter lead and held off the Lumberjacks (3-12) at South Berwick.

Shannon Kunz added 12 points and 17 rebounds for Seacoast Christian.

Olivia Brown led Hebron with a game-high 24 points.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

LAWRENCE 67, SKOWHEGAN 46: Nick Noiles scored 20 points as Lawrence (14-4) beat Skowhegan (2-16) at Fairfield.

Spencer Carey added 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Dequan Frost and Eli Holland each had nine points for Skowhegan.

MADISON 63, CARRABEC 30: Dylan Price scored 13 points as the Bulldogs (11-7) beat the Cobras (0-18) at Madison.

Kaleb Staples added 12 points and Austin Kane had 11 for Madison.

Paul Dawe had 13 for Carrabec.

PREP GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

KIMBALL UNION 47, BERWICK ACADEMY 37: Torie St. Pierre finished with six points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals for Berwick Academy (11-4), which fell to Kimball Union (9-7) at Meriden, N.H.
