SOUTH PORTLAND — South Portland High School Principal James Holland has resigned after two years as the school’s top administrator.

Holland’s resignation was presented at Monday’s Board of Education meeting.  He will remain in the job until the end of the school year in June, according to Marian Sorensen, secretary to the superintendent.

Holland did not give any specific reason for his resignation in a letter about his decision, but did say he enjoyed his time at the school, Sorensen said. He could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, Scarborough High School Principal Dean Auriemma announced his resignation after two years on the job.
