GORHAM – Haley Jordan scored 21 points and Nicole Garland put in 19 to lead the top-seeded University of Southern Maine Huskies (25-1) to a 73-62 victory over the fifth-seeded Rhode Island College Anchorwomen (16-10) and into the final of the Little East Conference Championships.

Garland connected on five 3-point shots, including a pair that sparked a 10-0 run midway through the second half to help USM pull away from a 50-49 lead. Garland also established a new USM single-season record for 3-pointers made with 82, breaking her own previous record from last season of 78.

Rebecca Knight added 12 points with a team-high seven rebounds.

The Huskies will host UMass-Dartmouth in the LEC Championship Game Saturday at 4 p.m.

(5) DUKE 61, (19) FLORIDA STATE 50: Elizabeth Williams had 20 points and 13 rebounds to help the host Blue Devils beat the Seminoles.

Chloe Wells added 15 points for the Blue Devils (25-1, 15-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who won their 37th consecutive home game against ACC competition.

Duke trailed 24-20 early in the second half but seized control with a 26-4 run.

Alexa Deluzio scored 16 points to lead Florida State (20-6, 10-5), which lost its sixth straight matchup with Duke.

(6) CALIFORNIA 77, OREGON 55: Layshia Clarendon scored 14 points and the Bears (24-2, 14-1 Pac-12) won their school-record 12th straight game. The Ducks fall to 4-23 and 2-13.

(16) NORTH CAROLINA 72, VIRGINIA TECH 50: Tierra Ruffin-Pratt scored 17 points as the Tar Heels (24-4, 12-3) routed the Hokies (8-18, 2-13) to clinch a first-round bye in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

R.I. COLLEGE 61, SOUTHERN MAINE 47: Tahrike Carter had 12 points and eight rebounds as the top-seeded Anchormen (23-3) eliminated the fourth-seeded Huskies (15-11) in the semifinals of the Little East Conference Championships at Providence, R.I.

Sean Bergeron had 13 points and eight boards for Southern Maine, which managed just 15 points in the first half.

ST. LOUIS 65, (15) BUTLER 61: Mike McCall had 18 points and Kwamain Mitchell scored 10 of his 12 in the second half to help the Billikens (21-5, 10-2 Atlantic 10) rally past the Bulldogs (22-6, 9-4) at Indianapolis.

Dwayne Evans added 17 points for the Billikens, who won for the fourth time this season against a Top 25 opponent — a school record — and earned their ninth victory in a row in Atlantic 10 play.

Saint Louis remains firmly in control in the conference, holding a one-game lead over No. 24 Virginia Commonwealth. The Billikens beat VCU 76-62 on Tuesday.

BASEBALL

MAINE 7, STETSON 1: Scott Heath went 4 for 5 with four RBI to lead the Black Bears (1-5) over the Hatters (2-3) at Deland, Fla.

Heath hit an RBI single in the sixth inning for Maine’s first run. He put the Black Bears ahead 3-0 with a single in the eighth and capped the scoring on a two-run single in the ninth.

Tommy Lawrence struck out six, walked none, and gave up one run and eight hits in eight innings for the win.
