Heart condition found, prospect needs more tests

Top draft prospect Star Lotulelei will undergo more extensive heart tests when he returns to Utah.

Doctors at the NFL’s annual scouting combine in Indianapolis found the star defensive tackle and likely high pick has a heart condition, Lotulelei’s agent, Bruce Tollner, confirmed in a series of emails with The Associated Press on Monday.

The 6-foot-2, 311-pound defensive tackle plans to do a full workout in front of scouts at his regularly scheduled Pro Day on March 20.

ESPN first reported Lotulelei has a left ventricle that is not operating at maximum capacity.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL: Tickets for the Class A girls’ state championship game between McAuley and Bangor at the Augusta Civic Center will go on sale Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m in the school mall at McAuley High School. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors and are for general admission seating.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL: Tickets for the Class A state championship game between South Portland and Hampden at the Augusta Civic Center will be on sale at Beal Gymnasium at South Portland High School Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL: Berwick Academy finished at 15-6, its best record in 10 seasons, and qualified as the sixth seed in the Class C NEPSAC tournament. Berwick travels to Proctor Academy on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game.

BASKETBALL

NBA D-LEAGUE: The Maine Red Claws traded point guard Andre Barrett to the Sioux Falls Skyforce for guard Mark Tyndale. Tyndale, 27, averaged 10.1 points and 3.8 assists in 34 games with Sioux Falls this season. Maine begins a five-game homestand Friday.
