The body of a man was found inside a burned out mobile home at 14 Tompkins Road in Presque Isle Sunday.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office reported the victim is believed to be Shawn Whitington, 36, who lived in the home with his girlfriend, Tricia Ciccolella, and their daughter, 4.
The mother and child were not home when the fire broke out, according to the Fire Marshal’s Office.
The fire was discovered by Ciccolella at about 4:30 a.m. when she returned home with friends. The woman and her friends tried to get into the home but smoke and fire forced them away, authorities said.
The body was found in the bedroom after the fire was extinguished. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
