NEWCASTLE — A Lincoln County man, who is a convicted felon, was arrested Tuesday after police found weapons and several rounds of ammunition in his Newcastle home.

Lt. Michael Murphy of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said officers searched the Birch Lane home of 54-year-old Robert Wallace on Tuesday after receiving a tip that he possessed firearms.

He was convicted in 1980 of aggravated assault and again in 1997 for possession of a firearm by a felon. During Tuesday’s search, two rifles were seized along with several rounds of ammunition.

Wallace was arrested without incident and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. He was being held at the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.
