WATERVILLE — Police say a 19-year-old man wanted in New York City for attempted murder, gang assault, first-degree assault and weapons violations has been detained on a fugitive charge in Waterville, Maine.

Police say Eimel Evans was arrested Monday on the campus of Thomas College in Waterville, where he’s a student.

New York police officials say the charges stem from a shooting last August. Members of the Waterville Police Department were assisted several New York Police Department detectives who traveled to Maine to arrest Evans.

Evans was held without bail on a fugitive-from-justice charge at the Kennebec County Jail. There was no paperwork indicating whether he had an attorney.
