BANGOR – Corey McNamara made a diving catch from the mound on a suicide-squeeze attempt, and then doubled off the runner at third base for the final out of the game, as St. Joseph’s held on for a 3-2 victory over Husson on Thursday afternoon at the Winkin Complex.

Joe Coyne had a pair of hits and drove in two runs for the Monks (8-3), including an RBI double that put St. Joseph’s ahead 3-1 in the seventh inning.

St. Joseph’s starter Jimmy Kennedy gave up one run in 51/3 innings to earn the win.

COLBY 6, FREDONIA 5: Dan Csaplar lined a walk-off, two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Mules (6-1) to a win over the Devils (7-4) at Auburndale, Fla.

MEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 8, BABSON 6: Ian Deveau, John Grimaldi and Garth Franklin scored two goals apiece as the Mules (4-2) built an 8-4 lead going into the fourth quarter and held on for a win over the Beavers (3-4) at Babson Park, Mass.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

ST. JOSEPH’S 13, RIVIER 12: Cassie Diplock scored four goals as the Monks (6-3, 3-0) held on to edge the Raiders (3-3, 1-2) in a GNAC game at Deering High School.

Anneka Adame led the Monks with five goals.

SOFTBALL

LORAS 7, COLBY 1: Emily Schatz went 2 for 3 and scored the lone run for the Mules (3-4) on an RBI single by Erica Pulford as they fell to the Hawks (7-5) in their first game of the day at Clermont, Fla.

COLBY 7, CARROLL 6: Emily Schatz hit an RBI single to score Meaghan Lewia in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Mules (4-4) edged the Pioneers (4-8) in their second game at Clermont, Fla.

UNE SWEEPS GORDON: Allie Frazier and Adrienne Chase each drove in two runs and scored twice as the Nor’easters (8-6, 2-2) cruised to a 9-0, 5-inning victory over the Fighting Scots (4-10, 2-4) in the first game at Wenham, Mass.

In the second contest, Meghan Bolano went 3 for 4 to pace a 15-hit attack for the Nor’easters, as they downed the Scots 19-8.

ST. JOSEPH’S SPLITS WITH RIVIER: Lindsay Moore and Alyssa Wade each went 3 for 3 with two RBI as the Monks (12-4) cruised to a 10-2 win over the Raiders (4-8) in the second game at Standish.

In the opener, a 5-3 loss, Connie Grovo went 4 for 4 and Melissa Mayhew added two hits and two RBI to pace the Monks on offense.
