Master preserver training program to start in June

The 10-week program will feature hands-on classes related to all aspects of safe home food preservation. It will be held on 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays in Falmouth and Gorham.

The projects might include teaching workshops; staffing educational displays and demonstrations at farmers markets, county fairs and other food-related events; and working with community groups and individuals to promote food preservation.

Participants are selected through an application process. To request an application, call the Cumberland County office at (800) 287-1471. Applications can also be downloaded at extension.umaine.edu/cumberland. The deadline for submitting applications is May 3.
