• Ericka Temple joined Poulin Financial Services to provide tax-preparation and accounting services. She previously was a master tax preparer with H&R Block in Biddeford.

Don Oakes was named director of Delta Dental Plan of Maine. Oakes of Falmouth had a 20-year career with L.L. Bean, where he worked in various senior management roles.

• Carroll Fernald and Janet Moore joined Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty as senior vice presidents.

Fernald of Mount Desert Island previously served as president of Acadia Council of Realtors, director of the Maine Association of Realtors and the Mid-Coast Board of Realtors, and on the legislative committee of Maine Association of Realtors.

Moore of Seal Harbor has 30 years of experience in the industry. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Seal Harbor Library and is director of the Mount Desert Nursing Association.

PROMOTIONS

Scott Buckheit was named senior vice president and senior technology officer of information technology and loan servicing at Camden National Corp. Buckheit joined Camden National in 2006. He has 24 years of information technology, teleservicing, operations and project management experience.

Karen Sherry was promoted to chief curator and curator of American art at the Portland Museum of Art. Sherry joined the museum staff in June 2012 and was instrumental in the opening of the Winslow Homer Studio and the exhibition “Weatherbeaten: Winslow Homer and Maine” last September. Sherry will organize her first exhibition at the PMA, “Winslow Homer’s Civil War,” which opens Sept. 7.

AWARDS

Judy E. Wallingford, president of the Maine Water Co., recently received the Jeff Nixon Distinguished Service Award from the Maine Water Utilities Association. Wallingford began her career in the Maine waterworks industry 32 years ago. She currently serves on the Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee.

Marilyn Gugliucci, Ph.D., director of geriatrics education and research in the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, is being awarded the 2013 Marguerite Elliott Innovation in Clinical Medical Education Award by the national Society of Osteopathic Medical Educators. Gugliucci was invited to present at the 2013 joint American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine/Association of Osteopathic Directors and Medical Educators annual meeting later this month in Baltimore.

Hearst Television Inc., parent of WMTW, earned its seventh consecutive USC Cronkite Award for excellence in television political journalism. WMTW, home of NEWS 8, produces 25.5 hours of local news per week. The station has been honored with three Emmys for Best Newscast in New England and six regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for the continuing pursuit of excellence in journalism. WMTW 8 is owned by Hearst Television Inc.

• Advantage Home Care was recognized with a “Best of Home Care” award from Home Care Pulse. Advantage Home Care provides nonmedical home care services to individuals and families in southern Maine. It scored 92 percent and above in 12 categories – from timeliness of caregivers to response to problems – and had an overall score of 95 percent.

Robert Allen of UBS Financial Services was named to Barron’s “Top 1,000 Financial Advisors” list for 2013. Allen has received the distinction of being ranked No. 1 in Maine for the second consecutive year. He has more than 25 years of experience and is responsible for managing the investment group of Allen Gower Steele and Young.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

Lili Pew, an associate broker and real estate partner at The Knowles Co. of Northeast Harbor, joined the board of trustees for the College of the Atlantic. Pew also serves on the board of Friends of Acadia, competes in national cycling events and assists the Downeast Bicycle Cycling and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine.

Rippleffect‘s board of directors recently elected two new officers: Katie Fullam Harris of MaineHealth was elected president. John Bennett of Oakhurst Dairy was elected vice-president.

The board also appointed four new members: Harold Crabill of Merrill Lynch; Amy Farrell of Port Island Realty; Jack Lufkin of Gorham Savings Bank; and Robert Trowbridge of Maine Medical Center.

Sen. Chris Johnson (D-Lincoln) was appointed as one of two members representing the state Senate to the Lobster Management Policy Council. Johnson is chair of the Marine Resources Committee. The council advises the commissioner of marine resources on matters of interest to the lobster industry.
