NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Travis Shaw singled home Shannon Wilkerson in the top of 10th inning Saturday night to give the Portland Sea Dogs a 6-5 win over the New Britain Rock Cats.

Rock Cats reliever Edgar Ibarra retired the first two batters in the 10th before issuing a walk to Wilkerson. Wilkerson went to third on a single by Xander Bogaerts and scored on Shaw’s line-drive single to right.

Brock Huntzinger struck out two in the bottom of the 10th while recording his third save of the season. Chris Martin was credited with the victory after three innings of one-hit relief.

The Sea Dogs trailed 5-2 after six innings but got a run back in the seventh on an RBI double by Tony Thomas.

Portland tied it with two runs in the eighth. Christian Vazquez hit a one-out single and advanced around the bases on two throwing errors and a wild pitch. Peter Hissey drew a walk with two outs and scored on a triple by Wilkerson.

Wilkerson and Shaw each went 3 for 5. Wilkerson started the game with a single, and Shaw and Thomas hit back-to-back doubles with one out to give Portland a 2-0 lead.

New Britain pulled even in the fourth against Sea Dogs starter Kyle Kaminska, on an RBI single by Evan Bagley and an RBI double by former UMaine player Curt Smith.

The Rock Cats added two in the fifth on a wild pitch and Nathan Hanson’s run-scoring single.

Daniel Bard pitched the sixth and gave up a run on a walk and two hits.
