BUXTON – Buxton police and the Maine Warden Service have suspended their search for a man who was reported missing Thursday morning.

The search will resume Friday morning, according to Sgt. Vaughn Staples of the Buxton Police Department.

Thursday’s search was concentrated on the area around the Salmon Falls Bridge on Route 202 in Buxton.

A state dive team and police dogs searched the Saco River, river banks and woods near the bridge.

Doug Rafferty, spokesman for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, said evidence suggests that the missing man may have jumped from the bridge into the river.

Staples said the man was last seen wearing khakis, black shoes and a red parka. The man, whose name is not being released, is about 30 years old.

Staples said the man took a bus from Boston to Portland and came to Buxton on Wednesday afternoon. A female acquaintance reported him missing around 8:30 a.m.
