PORTLAND – John Wheeler had five goals an an assist Wednesday to lead Scarborough to a 16-3 victory against Deering in a schoolboy lacrosse game.

Chris Cyr added three goals and an assist for Scarborough (5-1).

Billy Farrell led Deering (3-3) with a goal and an assist. 

KENNEBUNK 8, PORTLAND 1: Josh Hussey had three goals and an assist as the Rams (6-0) downed the Bulldogs (0-6) at Portland.

Patrick Rimmer chipped in with a pair of goals for Kennebunk.

Max Pierter scored for Portland.

THORNTON ACADEMY 14, WINDHAM 1: Taylor Browne and Isaac Sinclair had three goals apiece to lead eight scorers for the Trojans (4-2) against the Eagles (3-2) at Saco.

Jack Grondin made seven saves for Thornton.

Griffin Jacobson scored for Windham. 

FALMOUTH 10, LAKE REGION 2: Brad Gilbert, Tristan Tucker and Andrew Jeffries scored two goals apiece to lead the Yachtsmen (2-2) past the Lakers (2-2) at Naples.

Zach Tidd and R.J. Legere scored for the Lakers. 

WESTBROOK 14, NOBLE 6: Nick Tremblay finished with five goals and one assist, and Noah Oliver scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead the Blue Blazes (3-2) past the Knights (0-6) at Westbrook.

Westbrook also got three goals and four assists from Sam Carroll, and a pair of goals from Ben Grant. 

SOUTH PORTLAND 15, BONNY EAGLE 3: Andrew Whipple scored a pair of goals and assisted on three others as the Red Riots (4-2) cruised past the Scots (1-5) at Standish.

Jack Fiorini added four goals and one assist for South Portland. 

CAPE ELIZABETH 16, WAYNFLETE 9: Alex Bornick had six goals and two assists as the Capers (3-1) downed Waynflete (1-3) at Cape Elizabeth.

Justin Cary finished with five goals and two assists for Cape. Zander Majercik scored five times for Waynflete. 

MESSALONSKEE 7, CONY 5: Aidan Calkins scored two goals to lead a balanced offense as Messalonskee won at Augusta.

Ben Weeks, Jordan Holmes, Eric Van Der Karr and Connor Leonard also scored for Messalonskee.

Brandon Surette led Cony with two goals. Kevin Kingsbury had a goal and an assist.

BASEBALL

FALMOUTH 10, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Thomas Fortier threw his second consecutive no-hitter as the Yachtsmen (4-0) cruised past the Patriots (1-6) in five innings at Falmouth.

Fortier struck out 11, walked four and went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI.

Will D’Agostino added two hits, including a double, and three RBI, and Andrew Emple had two hits and two RBI for Falmouth.

GREELY 9, WELLS 1: Nick Dunnett doubled twice and drove in three runs to help Greely (5-0) defeat Wells (2-4) at Cumberland.

Bailey Train, who hit a solo homer in the first inning, pitched into the sixth, giving up one run on two hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. 

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 25, SACOPEE VALLEY 14: Ian MacFawn hit a pair of homers and tripled as the Raiders (3-3) downed the Hawks (1-5) in five innings at South Hiram.

Tyler Hill finished with five hits, including a triple, and Tyler Saunders added three hits for Fryeburg.

Nick York doubled and homered, and Alex Fenderson had four hits for Sacopee. 

FREEPORT 7, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 4: Brian Rhea, facing two outs and two strikes in the seventh inning and his team trailing 4-3, came through with a two-run single, and Freeport (2-4) went on to beat the Seagulls (3-2) at Old Orchard beach.

Old Orchard took the lead in the fifth on a two-run double by Sean McDermott.

After McDermott’s hit, Peter LaMagna relieved and allowed one hit the rest of the way. 

POLAND 1, YARMOUTH 0: Dan Bernier scored on Matt Rabasco’s suicide squeeze in the eighth inning as the Knights (4-2) beat Yarmouth (4-2) at Poland.

C.J. Martin of Poland pitched 7 1/3 innings, striking out four, walking three and giving up four hits. Ethan Collier got the final two outs for the win. 

WAYNFLETE 16, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 0: Ben Mallon had three hits, three RBI and three runs, and Tom Silk added two doubles and two RBI as the Flyers (3-1) beat the Lions (0-2) in five innings at Portland. 

YORK 11, CAPE ELIZABETH 5: Alexander Mercurio finished 4 for 4 with three singles and a two-run homer in the fifth inning to lead the Wildcats (5-0) past the Capers (2-3) at York.

Anthony Sciaudone knocked in three runs on two singles and Samuel Johnson drove in two runs with a pair of singles for York. 

WINTHROP 12, BOOTHBAY REGION 0: Dakota Carter had three hits, including a double, as the Ramblers (4-0) won a five-inning game at Boothbay Harbor.

Zack Steele and winnng pitcher Matt Sekerak each went 2 for 3 for the Ramblers. Sekerak struck out 10, allowed one hit and didn’t walk a batter.
