KEENE, N.H. – New Hampshire police say two people are dead and a third was hospitalized after a fuel tanker collided with a car in Keene.

WMUR-TV reported that a section of Route 12 near the Route 9 East ramp will remain closed for some time as the investigation into the fatal crash continues.

Police have not identified the dead or the person injured. The car involved in the crash was destroyed by fire.

Firefighters from Keene and several surrounding towns extinguished the car fire and a small brush fire caused by the crash.

Police said they were talking with the fuel tanker’s owners to determine how best to offload the remaining fuel.
