PORTLAND – Joe Nielsen had six goals and four assists Tuesday to lead Portland to its first boys’ lacrosse victory of the season, downing Noble, 13-3.

Mike Fuller added two goals and four assists, and Ben Allen stopped seven shots for Portland (1-7).

Mikyle Ricker had two goals for Noble (0-8).

 

WAYNFLETE 16, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 3: Henry Cleeves had five goals and an assist, and Zander Majercik added four goals and three assists to lead the Flyers (3-3) past the Raiders (1-6) at Portland.

Cooper Chap and Forest Chap each scored two goals for Waynflete.

BASEBALL

BIDDEFORD 5 DEERING 4: Pat Wilson singled over the center fielder’s head in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring Corey Collard from third with the winning run for the Tigers (2-5) against Deering (1-7) at Biddeford.

The Rams made it 4-4 in the top of the seventh when Nick Bevilacqua singled home Nick Carmichael before Patrick Viola scored on a bases-loaded walk.

 

BONNY EAGLE 7, KENNEBUNK 6: Corey Leach singled home pinch-runner Kyle Labreque in the bottom of the seventh inning, lifting the Scots (2-5) over the Rams (2-5) at Standish.

Bonny Eagle rallied from a 6-3 hole in the sixth, getting RBI singles from Leach and Devin Butler before Briar Morin tied it with a sacrifice fly.

Scots starter Tom Hazelton allowed two runs and struck out five in 52/3 innings.

Max Kendall went 3 for 4 with a triple and four RBI for Kennebunk.

 

GORHAM 2, SOUTH PORTLAND 1: Alex Yankowsky scored on Dylan Turner’s suicide squeeze in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Rams (5-3) over the Red Riots (4-3) at Gorham.

Damon Wallace allowed four hits in seven innings, and Matt Leclair pitched around two hit batters in the eighth for Gorham.

Nick Whitten pitched a complete game for South Portland and hit an RBI triple in the third.

Chris Hardy tied it for the Rams with a double in the fifth.

 

YORK 13, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Adam Bailey struck out nine and walked none in a two-hitter as the Wildcats (6-1) beat the Patriots (1-8) in five innings at Gray.

Dan Bock hit a three-run homer, and Anthony Sciaudone and Sam Johnson each had two hits and two RBI.

 

MARSHWOOD 8, PORTLAND 1: Alex McLean’s three-run homer to left-center gave the Hawks (7-0) a 4-0 second-inning lead against Portland (4-2) at South Berwick.

Marshwood added three in the third.

Max McCoomb had two hits for Marshwood and also started three short-to-first double plays.

 

SANFORD 3, MASSABESIC 2: The Spartans scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to overcome Massabesic (2-5) at Sanford.

Jed Scott scored the tying run from third and Colby Perigo, running on contact with two outs, the winning run from second when Jimmy Parks’ grounder was thrown away.

Ethan Gouin started the winning rally when he reached on an error. Scott singled and Gouin scored on Perigo’s base hit.

Casey Nava’s two-run single gave the Mustangs a first-inning lead.

 

SCARBOROUGH 9, NOBLE 3: Ben Greenberg tripled home Aaron Ravin and Brendan Hall, then scored on Sam Wessel’s single to give the Red Storm (7-0) a 3-0 first-inning lead against Noble (1-6) at Scarborough.

Sam Terry doubled home a run and also scored as Scarborough opened a 9-3 lead with a four-run fifth.

 

WINDHAM 7, THORNTON ACADEMY 4: Joey Francoeur had two hits and three RBI, and pitched a scoreless seventh for the save as the Eagles (6-1) downed the Golden Trojans (2-5) at Windham.

Shawn Francoeur struck out seven in six innings and chipped in an RBI for Windham.

Dylan Norton drove in two for Thornton Academy.
