MACHIAS — Maine Forest Rangers are fighting a wildfire in a remote area Down East.

WCSH-TV reports that the fire has consumed about 100 acres of growth in an unorganized township near Cherryfield.

The wildfire in T18 MD is near a former Air Force backscatter radar site. The Maine Forest Service has four rangers on scene, as well as two helicopters.

Rangers say no buildings are currently threatened by the fire.
