Falmouth High’s sailing team finished second Saturday in the New England Schools Sailing Association Public School Championship on Lake Massapoag in Sharon, Mass. The Yachtsmen won four of five races, losing only to North Kingstown, R.I., which finished with a 5-0 record and advanced to the national championships in Florida.

Team members were Charlie Lalumiere, Haley McMahon, Myles Everett, Kayla Adelman, Cam Loncoski and Reed McDermont.

Yarmouth High, meanwhile, won the Downeast Championship at Maine Maritime Academy. The Clippers competed in a total of 20 races during the two-day event and edged Marblehead, Mass., at the finish line of the final race to beat Marblehead by one point.

The event featured 19 teams and also served as the Maine Schools Championship.

Team members were Sam Alexander, Tim Morse, Haley Estabrook, Ben Palmer, Ethan Merrill, Teo Scott, Anna Bernard and Kaeleigh Morton.

Grady Friedman of Falmouth and Drake Wheelden of Kents Hill, representing the Portland Junior Pirates, won their age group in this year’s TD Garden Mini 1-on-1 competition. The six-round, single-elimination event took place on Feb. 2, and the semifinals and finals were televised during Boston Bruins games in April.

Grady, a forward, and Drake, a goalie, beat Dover, N.H., in the semifinals and defeated the Maine Gladiators 1-0 in the finals. Both players are 12 years old but competed in the 10-and-under division based on birthdates from the previous year.

Drake faced a total of 18 shots during the competition and didn’t allow a goal.

 

Max Power used a pitching wedge to ace the 155-yard 13th hole at Riverside Golf Course on May 17.

 

Sokha Meas used a 9-iron to score a hole-in-one on the 154-yard fourth hole at Spring Meadows on May 18. It was his third hole-in-one. The shot was witnessed by Sal Em.
