KITTERY – Jermany Scott Claus, 39, of Kittery, has been arrested after requesting nude images on his cell phone of an underaged female from Tennessee, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said it obtained federal warrants for a child pornography investigation that resulted in Claus’ arrest.
On May 18, the Tennesse Bureau of Investigation received information that Claus had allegedly requested the images from a girl in Athens, Tenn. The victim sent numerous photos to him through cell-phone text messages.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said it conducted an undercover operation with the victim’s phone and obtained further evidence to corroborate the victim’s statement.
Federal warrants were obtained and the Kittery City Police Department executed search warrants seizing electronic devices at Claus’ residence.
Claus was booked into the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service in Portland. The date of his arrest was not immediately available Thursday night.
The Athens Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Kittery City Police Department all assisted in the investigation, according to the Tennesse Bureau of Investigation.
