CUMBERLAND – Audrey Mann hit a two-run double during a four-run first inning Thursday and fourth-seeded Greely went on to a 9-3 victory against 12th-ranked Yarmouth in a Western Class B softball quarterfinal.

The Rangers (13-4) will be at top-ranked Fryeburg Academy in the semifinals Saturday.

Danielle Cimino of Greely struck out four in a six-hitter.

Mann finished with three hits, and Mykaela Twitchell added a solo homer for the Rangers.

Yarmouth (9-9) cut the deficit to 6-2 on a two-run homer by Melissa Levinson in the fourth.

OCEANSIDE 1, WASHINGTON ACADEMY 0: Rachel Frye pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks to lead third-seeded Oceanside (16-1) over sixth-ranked Washington Academy (10-7) in an Eastern Class B quarterfinal at Rockland.

Brooke Dugan reached on an error in the first inning, stole second and third, then came home on a wild pitch.

Losing pitcher Kassidy Seeley allowed two hits, struck out 10 and walked four.

SOUTH PORTLAND 10, BIDDEFORD 3: Danica Gleason was 4 for 4 and knocked in three runs to lead the second-seeded Red Riots (15-2) over the seventh-seeded Tigers (11-7) in a Western Class A quarterfinal at South Portland.

Emily Gray’s two-run single in the third inning gave South Portland a 4-0 lead.

Winning pitcher Erin Bog-danovich struck out seven and walked none.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 6, OAK HILL 3: Alex Thompson singled home two runs as the sixth-seeded Patriots (13-5) scored three times in the fourth inning to take a 6-0 lead against the third-seeded Raiders (12-4) in a Western Class B quarterfinal at Wales.

Oak Hill scored three times in the seventh on a two-run double by Kortni Michaud and an RBI double by Sadie Goulet.

Gray-New Gloucester took a 3-0 lead in the first. Kaelyn Woods tripled home Sam Wilkins and Zoe Adams tripled home Woods before stealing home.

NOTES

SONJA MORSE of Cony was named the Gatorade Maine softball player of the year.

Morse, a senior, was a right-handed pitcher, shortstop and first baseman who led the Rams to a 15-1 record before a 6-4 loss to Bangor in the Eastern Class A quarterfinals.

Morse will play next season at UMass-Lowell.
