ANAHEIM, Calif. – Mariano Rivera struck out Albert Pujols with the bases loaded to end the Angels’ five-run rally in the ninth inning, and the New York Yankees snapped their five-game losing streak with a wild 6-5 victory over Los Angeles on Sunday.

CC Sabathia pitched five-hit ball into the ninth and Travis Hafner hit a three-run homer off Jered Weaver, but the Yankees barely survived when Rivera fanned the Angels’ star slugger. Rivera gave up three hits and a walk, but still got his 24th save.

BLUE JAYS 7, RANGERS 2: Chien-Ming Wang won for the first time in more than a year, Colby Rasmus homered for a third straight game, and Toronto completed a four-game in Texas.

Wang allowed seven hits in seven shutout innings to win for the first time since last June 12 with Washington. Adam Lind hit a three-run homer, and J.P. Arencibia added a two-run shot for the Blue Jays.

ROYALS 5, RAYS 3: Wade Davis allowed two runs in six innings to stop his five-game winless streak, Jeff Francoeur homered, and Kansas City won at St. Petersburg, Fla.

Alcides Escobar and Alex Gordon had RBI singles to put the Royals up 4-2 in the sixth.

TIGERS 5, TWINS 2: Doug Fister held Minnesota hitless until the sixth inning and Torii Hunter connected for his 300th career home run to lead Detroit at Minneapolis.

Fister lost his no-hit bid when Brian Dozier led off the sixth with a homer. He allowed two runs and two hits in 72/3 innings.

ASTROS 5, WHITE SOX 4: Jason Castro homered for the second straight game and Matt Dominguez hit a three-run double to help host Houston win its fourth in a row.

ATHLETICS 10, MARINERS 2: Bartolo Colon worked seven strong innings to win his sixth straight decision, Josh Reddick homered and matched a career high with four hits, and Oakland avoided a sweep against visiting Seattle.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

METS 4, CUBS 3: Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit a three-run homer that capped a four-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting New York over visiting Chicago.

PIRATES 6, DODGERS 3: Pedro Alvarez hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the fifth, helping rookie starter Gerrit Cole and host Pittsburgh beat Los Angeles.

PADRES 4, DIAMONDBACKS 1: Kyle Blanks hit a three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to a snap a 1-1 tie and lift host San Diego to its season-high sixth straight victory.

ROCKIES 5, PHILLIES 2: Jhoulys Chacin came within an out of his second career shutout and Wilin Rosario and Carlos Gonzalez homered, leading Colorado to a win at home.

REDS 5, BREWERS 1: Johnny Cueto pitched six solid innings in his return to Cincinnati’s rotation and Jay Bruce homered to lift the Reds over visiting Milwaukee.

MARLINS 7, CARDINALS 2: Ricky Nolasco allowed one run and three hits in seven innings to help host Miami take the rubber game of a three-game series with St. Louis.

BRAVES 3, GIANTS 0: Freddie Freeman singled three times and drove in a run and Julio Teheran pitched six scoreless innings to lead Atlanta past visiting San Francisco.

INTERLEAGUE

INDIANS 2, NATIONALS 0: Corey Kluber pitched eight shutout innings and host Cleveland spoiled Stephen Strasburg’s return.

Kluber gave up seven hits, struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter. Strasburg held the Indians to a run on one hit in five innings.
