FALMOUTH – The Maine Turnpike is closed for about a half hour to allow Central Maine Power Co. crews to replace two utility poles.
The poles, which cross over the turnpike at the Blackstrap Road overpass, began tilting toward the turnpike on Saturday, possibly due to heavy rain this week, said Dan Morin, a spokesman for the Maine Turnpike Authority.
To allow crews to work safely, Morin said, the turnpike closed about 10 p.m.
Southbound traffic will need to leave the turnpike at Exit 53 (Route 100 in West Falmouth). Northbound traffic will have to leave the turnpike at Exit 52 (the Falmouth spur, which connects to I-295 and U.S. 1.
