PORTLAND – Andrews Post of Portland remained undefeated in American Legion Zone 4 baseball, sweeping a doubleheader Saturday from Morrill Post of South Portland, 3-1 and 6-3.

In the first game, Nate Smart struck out six and walked one while scattering eight hits, and Joe Apon drove in the winning run with a two-run double in the third inning for Portland (9-0).

In the second game, Tim Rovnak scored three runs, and Apon, Nick Volger and Travis Godbout had two hits apiece as Portland scored three runs in the first inning and held on.

Brendon Horton hit a solo homer and finished the doubleheader with three hits for South Portland (1-7).

BONANZA OF SANFORD, BIDDEFORD SAVINGS SPLIT: Ryan Camire pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and two walks as Bonanza of Sanford secured a 4-0 victory in the first game before Biddeford Savings won the second game 12-6 at Biddeford.

In the second game, Biddeford Savings got home runs from Taylor Reuillard, Casey Twomey and Nate Huot.

FAYETTE-STAPLES SWEEPS SACO BAY PT: Cam Jackman blasted a three-run homer, and Kip Richard, Ryder Kenney and Drew Gelinas had two hits apiece as Thornton completed a sweep with a 12-8 victory against York in the second game of a Zone 5 doubleheader at York.

Thornton won the opener 3-2 behind a five-hitter from Ben Lambert. Alex Mercurio hit a two-run homer for York.

STAPLES CROSSING SWEEPS MASSABESIC: Max McCoomb hit a two-run homer and a double and finished with three hits and three RBI, and Alex McLean had seven strikeouts and no walks in a five-hitter as Marshwood (8-1) beat Massabesic (2-7) 7-0 in the opener of a Zone 5 doubleheader at South Berwick.

In the second game, Jake Lebel had three hits, and Zack Quintal and Jordan Roberg drove in two runs each as Marshwood scored 12 runs over the final two innings for a 15-5 victory in five innings.

BRISTOL SEAFOOD, LIBBY-MITCHELL SPLIT: Dominic Esposito-Martin drove in three runs on two hits to lead Bristol Seafood to a 6-3 win in the opener at Portland. Sam Kozlowski had eight strikeouts as Libby-Mitchell won the second game, 7-3.

In the second game, Joey Schnier hit a two-run double in the fourth inning to put Libby- Mitchell ahead.

SMITH-TOBEY, TRI-TOWN SPLIT: Zak Johnson was the winning pitcher in the second game as Tri-Town salvaged a split with a 13-6 victory at Poland. Smith-Tobey won the first game, 10-3.

FALMOUTH SWEEPS FIRST TITLE: Drew Proctor had four hits and five RBI to lead Falmouth to a 14-4 five-inning victory in the opener at Portland.

In the second game, Thomas Fortier won it in relief, and also scored three runs and knocked in one in a 13-5 victory.

MOODY’S SWEEPS STANDISH 128: Nick Greatorex had a pair of hits with an RBI and a run to lead Gorham to a 5-0 win over Bonny Eagle (2-5) in the opening game of a Zone 4 doubleheader at Standish.

In the second game, Briar Morin, Damon Wallace and Tom Hazelton paced Gorham with two hits apiece in a 20-8 victory in a game that ended after six innings.

EAGLES 6, FALMOUTH 1: Dan Quint hit an RBI single and later stole home during a three-run second inning to help visiting Lyman (12-1) pull away from Falmouth (4-6).

WINDHAM MERCHANTS 3, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2: Ryan Gorman doubled in the seventh inning and scored the winning run on a error as the Windham Merchants won at home.

CUMBERLAND 6, SCHWARTZ & SCHWARTZ 1: Caleb Normandeau pitched a three-hitter to lead Cumberland (3-6) at home. Normandeau struck out six and walked none.

LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL 11-12

ROCKLAND 4, ELLSWORTH 2: Gilleyanne Davis-Oaks hit an RBI triple and scored on a passed ball in the seventh inning for Rockland on the first day of the state tournament at Rockland.

SOUTH LEWISTON 3, KENNEBUNK 2: South Lewiston rallied with three runs in the fourth inning, and Jordan Mynahan struck out 10 batters and walked one in a six-hitter.

NECBL

MUSKRATS 2, MAINERS 1: Will Blalock struck out eight through seven innings to lead Laconia at Sanford.

Sanford put runners on first and third in the ninth inning, but a strikeout ended the game.
