AUGUSTA — Maine wildlife officials have begun accepting applications for the 2013 any-deer permit lottery.
A total of 46,710 permits for antlerless deer will be issued in 16 of Maine’s 29 wildlife management districts during November’s white tail deer hunting season. It’s bucks only in the other wildlife management districts.
Paper applications for this year’s hunt must be postmarked or hand-delivered to the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife by July 26. Online applications, which can be found at www.mefishwildlife.com , are due by 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 15.
The lottery drawing will be held on Sept. 9.
The department last year issued 34,160 any-deer permits.
