WESTBROOK — Westbrook police say they have recovered a body from the Presumpscot River.

Capt. Michael F. Nugent said the city’s police and fire departments went to the Cumberland Street Bridge around 3:45 p.m. Monday where they recovered a body from the river.

Nugent, who could not be reached Monday night, said in a press release that the case remains under investigation.

Nugent said no further information would be made available Monday. He did not say whether the body was a male or a female, or whether the death appeared to be suspicious.
