Kids in Kayaks,

8 a.m.-noon in Phippsburg

Youth paddlers will have the chance to try fishing from kayaks at Phippsburg’s Center Pond. The Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association, Phippsburg Land Trust and Seaspray Kayaking are sponsoring the event. All equipment — including fishing gear, kayaks and life jackets — will be provided. Experienced fishing guides and kayakers will help kids paddle and cast. The event will take place at Hatch Point on Route 209 in Phippsburg, just north of Phippsburg Town Hall. Participants can park in the town hall parking lot. The event is free and lunch will be provided by members of the Phippsburg Land Trust. For more information, call 389-1870.

Boothbay Region Land Trust is hosting a hike at Penny Lake Preserve. Join environmental educator Tracey Hall for a hike and presentation on how animals have adapted to night. For more information, contact thall@bbrlt.org or 633-4818.

Pemaquid Paddlers

9 a.m. in Wiscasset

The Pemaquid Paddlers are celebrating their 10th year of warm-weather paddles. All trips last two to three hours and are easy to moderate in difficulty. Participants must provide their own canoe or kayak and wear a life jacket. All trips are free and open to the public. Call 677-6380 or email pemaquidpaddlers @aol.com. This week’s paddle is on the Sheepscot River. The put-in is the Wiscasset Town Landing at the end of Water Street.
