PORTLAND – Flash Mob America, which bills itself as “the number one flash mob company in the country,” is scheduled to show up in Portland on Aug. 5.

The giant flash mob will occur at 5 p.m. on Aug. 5, and will feature more than 50 professional performers and more than 100 flash mobbers, according to a news release from the company.

The release did not say where the flash mob would be, just that it would “surprise a group of unsuspecting Portlanders.”

Flash Mob America has organized flash mobs for TV shows and celebrities, including Rachael Ray and the ABC show “The Bachelorette.”

The production company is based in Los Angeles and according to their website, work with flash mob fans all over the country. Founded by Conroe Brooks and Staci Lawrence, the duo held their first flash mob in 2009 by recreating Sweden’s “Beat It” flash mob in the U.S.

According to Flash Mob America’s Facebook page, there were events in Pittsburg, Denver and multiple locations in Southern California earlier this month.

People who wish to register for the Portland event can get more information at www.flashmobamerica.com.
