YARMOUTH — The 24th edition of Maine’s most popular summer tennis tournament had a Massachusetts feel to the singles finals.
Noah Bragg of Brookline, a rising junior at Bowdoin College, and Cornelia Deeg of Boston won the Betty Blakeman Memorial men’s and women’s titles on a balmy Sunday afternoon at Yarmouth High School.
Bragg, seeded second in a men’s field of 89, rallied to a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over No. 1 Luke Saunders of Halifax, Nova Scotia, in match that lasted two and a half hours.
The unseeded Deeg beat No. 1 Olivia Leavitt, a Falmouth High junior and the Maine schoolgirl state champion, 6-3, 6-4.
In the 55-plus men’s tournament final, Jim Levesque of Bowdoin defeated Roger Gagne of Falmouth, 6-1, 6-1.
Champions in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles will be determined later Sunday afternoon and evening.
Organizers said the annual charity tournament raised approximately $15,000 for the Cancer Community Center of South Portland.
