OXFORD – The six 25-lap qualifying heats of the 40th annual TD Bank 250 featured some outstanding racing as a total of 64 cars tried to get into the final at Oxford Plains Speedwa on Sunday.

After moving past Scott Dragon of Williston, Vt., on the first lap, T.J. Brackett of Buckfield won the first heat despite losing his tailpipe on the 23rd lap.

His dad, Tim Brackett, finished second to earn the seventh spot on the 41-car starting grid.

In the second qualifying heat, Bryan Kruczek of Newmarket, N.H., held off a challenge from reigning PASS North champion Travis Benjamin of Morrill. Benjamin worked his way to near the front after starting dead last in the 12-car race.

Two-time 250 winner Ben Rowe held off a challenge from six-time PASS North champion Johnny Clark of Hallowell to win the third 25-lap heat.

After starting 10th on the grid, Cassius Clark of Farmington ran away to win the fourth heat after moving past reigning OPS track champion Shawn Martin of Turner.

D.J. Shaw of Center Conway, N.H., took over the lead from Steven Legendre of Salisbury, N.C., on a restart on lap 22 and went on to win the fifth heat.

Corey Bubar of Windham went wire-to-wire to win the sixth heat.

Ricky Rolfe of Albany Township won the 34th spot on the starting grid by turning away challenges from 2006 winner Jeremy Whorff of West Bath and veteran driver Dan Wentworth of Otisfield.

DANIEL HEMRIC, a 22-year-old driver from Kanapolis, N.C., temporaily was bounced out of the final after his car failed the post-race tech inspection after he finished third in the second qualifying heat.

It enabled Martin LaTulippe, a 28-year-old driver from Vallee Jonction, Quebec, to move into the 41-car starting grid without having to drive in a consolation heat.

Hemric earned a spot in the final by finishing third in the first consolation heat.

DANA REED of Shapleigh won the Pro All-Star Series Mods division feature.

Evan Arrington of Lovell finished second in the 40-lap race for opened-wheeled racers. Scott McDaniel of Livermore finished third.

JIMMY CHILDS of Leeds held off a challenge from Shawn Kimball of Pittston in the 25-lap Allen’s Coffee Brandy Mini-Stocks feature.

Calvin Rose Jr. of Turner finished third.

MIKE HAYNES of Livermore Falls picked up his first win of the season in the 25-lap Ripley & Fletcher Ford Outlaw Sportsman feature.

Todd Bisbee of South Paris and Jerry Freve of Buckfield finished third.

ZACH BOWIE of Lisbon won the 30-lap Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy Street Stock feature.

Mike Short of Auburn finished second and Tyson Jordan of Poland finished third.

SPENCER DAVIS, a 14-year-old driver from Dawsonville, Ga., became the youngest driver to qualify for a spot on the starting grid at the 250 when he finished third in a 25-lap consolation-round heat.

Later, Tate Fogleman, a 13-year-old from Durham, N.C., received a provisional spot on the starting grid.
