Laura Powell was perfect through five innings and struck out 14 of the 15 batters she faced as Scarborough shut out Derry, N.H., 10-0, in a mercy-rule win in the Eastern Region tournament for Little League softball at Bristol, Conn., on Monday.

Powell also contributed an RBI double during Scarborough’s five-run rally in the third inning. Sydney Mickelson also delivered an RBI single in that inning.

Scarborough ended the contest by scoring five more runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Scarborough, now 2-1 in the tournament, faces Cumberland, R.I. (2-0) at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

RAGING TIDE 3, NAVIGATORS 2: Matt Pagano doubled home the winning run with one out in the bottom of the ninth as the Raging Tide nipped the North Shore Navigators at the Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach.

Old Orchard improves to 17-21 with the win, while the Navigators even out at 18-18.

The Tide took a 1-0 lead in the first as Brian Doran reached on an error, stole second and third base, and scored on Billy Walker’s single.

North Shore claimed the lead in the top of the fourth with a sacrifice fly from Blaise Lezynski and an RBI single by Eddie Reese. Tito Lluberes tied the game for Old Orchard in the fifth when he scored on a groundout by Phil Sciretta.

Relief pitcher Tyler Pogmore was credited with the win, pitching the ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts. Starter Nick Whittaker lasted five inning, allowing three hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
