The doctor who examined Alex Rodriguez’s MRI for a strained left quadriceps said he didn’t see evidence of an injury and reported that Rodriguez believes he’s ready to play.

Rodriguez was scheduled to make his season debut Monday in Texas for the Yankees but was sent Sunday for an MRI after feeling soreness during a rehab assignment. The initial diagnosis by the Yankees’ team doctor, Christopher Ahmad, was a Grade 1 quad strain.

“I really didn’t give a second opinion,” Dr. Michael Gross of Hackensack Medical Center told Newsday. “I looked at the MRI and told them I didn’t see much that was significant.

“I spoke to Alex on the phone. He said he feels no pain, whether or not there’s a little bit of hemorrhage in the muscle or strain in the muscle, the thing that was most important to me is he felt no pain. I’m not a radiologist. I examine patients and I didn’t examine him.”

The Yankees recalled third baseman David Adams from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and placed third baseman Luis Cruz on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right knee.

DODGERS: Matt Kemp was put on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left ankle and lefty Ted Lilly was activated.
