BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Gordon Ramsay’s softer side comes out when the chef presides over aspiring kid cooks on a new reality show.

Ramsay said Thursday at the Television Critics Association meeting that kids between 8 and 13 who love to work in the kitchen will face off on “MasterChef Junior” debuting Sept. 27.

Ramsay is the expletive-spewing restaurateur and star of such Fox shows as “Kitchen Nightmares” and “Hell’s Kitchen.”

But a 10-year-old contestant on the new show named Gavin says Ramsay only curses twice in the show and both times it’s directed at servers, not kids.

Ramsay says everyone on the set knew the f-word stood for food.

Ramsay, a father of three daughters and a son, says he was brutally honest with the budding chefs, telling them when their food wasn’t good enough and sending them home in pairs during eliminations.
